What is PANDA?
PANDA is the learning management system of the University of Paderborn. It was initially developed under the working title "koaLA Next Generation" - koaLA-NG for short - as a university-wide uniform learning platform.
How do I get to PANDA and what are my access data?
You can find the LMS of the University of Paderborn "PANDA" at https://panda.uni-paderborn.de. The access data is identical with the login data of your university account. You can login with your university user name and password.
How can I register for a course?
In most courses you will be transferred automatically, provided you have registered for the corresponding course in PAUL. If you are registering with PANDA for the first time, it may take a day for your courses to appear correctly. A number of courses are password protected. In this case you will receive the password, which is also the registration key, from the teacher of the corresponding course.
How can I edit my profile?
Click on your name in the top right corner and then on Profile. In this menu you can edit your profile and add a photo and other contact details, for example. You can also set the frequency with which PANDA sends you messages, for example, forum subscriptions. You will find detailed instructions here.
What can I use materials from PANDA for?
Texts, graphics, images, audio and video recordings, ... are subject to copyright, i.e. any use requires copyright permission. Materials in PANDA are first of all only released for personal use in studies and teaching. Any distribution, publication on websites, commercial use, ... is strictly prohibited. Further use is only permitted if the author (e.g. the lecturer) allows further use, e.g. if materials are explicitly marked as "Public Domain" or are subject to a license model, e.g. the Creative Commons Initiative (Further information on copyright).
Frequently Asked Questions
How can I check that my submission has been fully uploaded?
Once the submission of a task has been uploaded, you will receive a message in PANDA and, depending on your profile settings, also to your university email address. You can also check that the uploaded file is displayed on the course submission page. Instructions for editing submissions can be found [[Usage scenario: Revising a submission already made here.
How can I see and contact other course participants?
The course list is deactivated for data protection reasons and should be discussed with the course management if necessary. However, the following options are still available for communication with other course participants: - Forum: If the instructor has activated the forum you can exchange information with other participants here. - Contact the user directly: If you know the name of the desired person you can write to him/her directly. To do so, search for the person in the message window.
How can I prevent the automatic logout?
For security reasons, the automatic log-out takes place after exactly 30 minutes and cannot be circumvented. To minimize data loss, it is therefore important that longer text entries are stored temporarily or written in an external text editor and then copied.
What can I do if the video playback does not work?
If the video does not play, you can download the video and watch it with another playback program. If you do not want to download the video, you can try to open the course in another browser or on another device and play the video there.
How do I create a group (e.g. for submissions)?
Groups can currently only be created by course administrators. Students will be activated for a corresponding group by the course administrator or can freely choose a group when enrolling for a course or through the activity Group Selection.
